The Wills Lifestyle Debut is one of the most important National Event for the world of Fashion Design. The 7th edition of Wills Lifestyle “Debut” annual contest, receives as many as 340 online registrations and over 150 portfolios were registered from fashion schools across the country.
In 7th edition “Debut” Pearl Academy Flags flies high as Mridul Jacob from Pearl Academy Chennai was declared the Winner of the contest and Anubha Jain, Pearl Academy Delhi got the Special Jury Award at the final round held at Delhi.
It is a proud moment for the Academy, that it nurtures their students in a way, that they are able to reach such a heights. In this way, the Pearl Academy is fulfilling it’s vision of excellence and innovation.

Mridul Jacob from Chennai has won the seventh edition of The Debut, an initiative which recognizes fresh talent in the field of fashion.
The 21-year-old, a final year student of Pearl Academy of Fashion, Chennai, is on cloud nine after winning the trophy, certificate and an all-expenses paid trip to an International Fashion Fair.
He will also be felicitated at the forthcoming edition of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week later this month.
“I am truly excited and this came as surprise. Thanks to all the judges and the organisers,” Jacob told IANS.
The grand finale of The Debut took place in the capital Tuesday evening post regional rounds in Kolkata, Bangalore and Mumbai. Established designers Nitin Bal Chauhan, Namrata Joshipura and Sartaj Mehta, head designer of Wills Lifestyle, co-judged the contestants.
“The Debut by Wills Lifestyle is a unique platform that nurtures and recognises young talent in the field of fashion design. This initiative provides encouragement to budding creative talent and facilitates interface with the leading names of the Indian fashion fraternity,” said Atul Chand, divisional chief executive, ITC’s Lifestyle Retailing Business Division.
This year as many as 340 online registrations and over 150 portfolios were registered from fashion schools across the country for the annual contest.
Some participating institutes were National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT); National Institute of Design (NID); Pearl Academy of Fashion; Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT); Amity School, Noida and J.D. Institute of Fashion Technology.

Wills Lifestyle announced the seventh edition of ‘The Debut’, a first of its kind initiative for recognizing India’s promising young talent in fashion arena. The third regional round of this edition kicked off on 26th Feb 2013 at the Wills Lifestyle store at Oberoi Goregaon mall in Mumbai.
The jury @ Mumbai comprised Priyadarshini Rao, Rahul Mishra, Neha Dhupia, Mayank, ITC Men’s wear designer and Ms. Nien Siao, Director, Pearl Academy, Noida.
‘The Debut’ is an extension of Wills Lifestyle’s association & commitment with India’s most prestigious fashion event ‘Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week and aims to encourage students of fashion through showcasing, recognizing & launching outstanding talent of tomorrow.
This year the contest received an overwhelming response through more than 340 online registrations and 150+ portfolios received from Fashion schools across the country – namely, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT); National Institute of Design (NID); Pearl Academy ; Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT); Amity School, Noida & J. D. Institute of Fashion Technology.
The Debut – 2013′ winner would be chosen from one of these 150+ creations and will get to felicitated at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week.
The Debut has also leveraged the Social Media platform to expand and engage with the larger pool of Design talent. Four young design students whose creations got the maximum votes on the Facebook page have made a wildcard entry to the regional rounds across Kolkata, Bangalore & Mumbai this year.
